Christian Receiving Facility Releases
Christian County Jail is not a Graves-owned facility. Its relevance comes from a 2025 interlocal housing agreement reported for Graves secure detainees after the tornado-damaged jail was demolished. The agreement does not mean every Graves detainee is housed there. The Graves Jailer also says people are housed around western Kentucky, so the named Farm-Out Location must control the inquiry.
A person may leave Christian County Jail for the community, transport back to Graves, Kentucky DOC placement, another jail, supervision, home incarceration, or a hold. Each destination ends one physical placement but does not always end all custody. Ask both counties what their use of “release” means.
| Question | Likely record holder |
|---|---|
| What was the Graves booking? | Graves County Jailer |
| Where was the person housed? | Farm-Out Location and receiving jail |
| Which door did the person leave? | Physical receiving facility |
| What order allowed the move? | Relevant court clerk |
| Did state supervision follow? | KY DOC, KOOL, and VINE |
Confirm Christian Jail Release Events
Start with the Graves BlueHorse Past Inmate search because it can connect the person to a Graves booking and Farm-Out Location. Use a full name plus birth date or booking number. Open the detail and look for a populated Release Date. Blank RDate entries, including entries reached through Books 24hr, cannot be called releases.
- Match the Graves booking by identifiers, not appearance alone.
- Record Book Date, Release Date, booking number, and Farm-Out Location.
- Ask the Graves Jailer whether Christian County was the physical custodian for that booking.
- Ask which facility executed the exit and what destination followed.
- Compare Kentucky VINE for a not-in-custody date.
- Check KOOL and DOC Daily Releases when a DOC or PID number appears.
The Graves County released inmate search compares the local, state, federal, court, and immigration routes. Use it when the record shows a transfer beyond the two county systems.
A Christian County transport back to Graves ends one placement, but it does not prove release to the community.
Christian Receiving Release Records
For the Graves side of the transaction, contact the Graves County Jailer at 150 South Jenkins Street, Mayfield, Kentucky 42066, by phone at 270-247-9829. Ask for the named booking/release sheet and identify the exact booking. Useful fields include actual release time, type or authority, transfer destination, physical releasing facility, court or bond reference, and final Graves status.
When the Graves response confirms Christian County as the physical holder, ask the receiving jail for the corresponding movement or release record through its official records channel. Do not assume one county’s file duplicates the other’s timestamps. Transportation logs and custody-transfer entries can differ from the legal release order while still describing the same chain.
A precise request works best: “Please provide the existing release, movement, or transfer record for [name and booking identifier] that shows the date and time Christian County ended physical custody, the releasing authority, and the destination.” Permit redaction. Kentucky open-records law does not require creation of a custom report.
Note: Request the Graves booking record and the receiving-jail movement record when the physical release point matters.
Why Graves Uses Christian County
The December 2021 tornado severely damaged the former Graves secure jail. The building was later demolished. Graves continued its Restricted Custody Center locally, but secure detainees have been housed at facilities elsewhere in western Kentucky. A July 2025 agreement specifically documented Christian County Jail as one receiver.
This history changes how roster disappearance should be read. In a single-building system, leaving the local current list may suggest release or transfer. In Graves County, the same disappearance may reflect a farm-out that preserved the Graves legal booking while changing the physical custodian. The record must resolve the reason.
The agreement and placement can change. Confirm the current arrangement through the Graves Jailer before relying on an older news report. Do not route an inquiry to Christian County merely because that county participated in the agreement; first establish that the named person was actually sent there.
Graves and Christian Custody
Legal custody and physical custody answer separate questions. Graves may hold the case-based booking and release authority. Christian County may document intake, housing, transport, and the moment a person left its door. A court can issue a bond or release order before either jail finishes identification, fee, property, transport, and hold checks.
- Legal custodian
- The agency responsible for the booking or authority under which the person is held.
- Physical custodian
- The facility that supplies the bed and carries out day-to-day confinement.
- Farm-out
- Placement in another jail, not release from custody.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian or location, which may continue confinement.
When dates differ, do not choose the earliest one and label it the release. Record what each timestamp represents. A judge’s order time, Graves booking closure, transport departure, Christian intake or exit, and VINE notification can all occur at different points.
State Records After Christian Release
Some Graves detainees are also Kentucky DOC offenders. A county jail can house an eligible state prisoner, and a county facility may appear in DOC’s Released From field. That does not transform the DOC Daily Releases archive into a list of ordinary Graves bond releases.
Search KOOL by DOC or PID number when available. Read Current Location with Location Type, Supervision Status, County of Supervision, institution or supervision start, and Projected Release Date. A Probation and Parole district is a community supervision location, not a prison.
For an actual state event, use the Daily Releases archive. Match the DOC number, then read Type of Release and Released From. Mandatory reentry or conditional discharge means physical incarceration ended while legal control continued. Minimum/Detainer indicates another hold may have followed.
VINE Checks Christian Releases
Kentucky VINE covers local jails and adult correctional institutions. Search the specific person by partial name or offender ID and compare identifiers. A not-in-custody record supplies a release date according to VINE data. A current-custody record supplies the facility’s address and telephone.
A person can have both a local-jail and a DOC record. Kentucky advises registering on both. That is especially useful when a Graves booking moves through Christian County or into DOC control. Still, VINE is a notification system rather than a certified release sheet. Corroborate it with the two county records.
County release calls may repeat every 30 minutes for up to 24 hours until acknowledged by PIN. That timing describes notifications, not a guarantee that the public roster updates at the same moment.
Unclear Christian Release Results
A negative Christian County search does not rule out a Graves booking. The person may be in another western Kentucky jail, may have been transported before the search, may appear under an alias, or may have a sealed or expunged entry. Start again with the Graves record and ask for the actual receiving site.
If both counties show an end date but the destination is blank, request the release authority and transfer agency. Check the court’s signed order for bond, dismissal, probation, shock probation, or sentence disposition. If federal or immigration custody is named, use the appropriate federal source; neither county can certify the later federal event.
Keep the evidence narrow and dated. Note which portal was checked, which identifiers matched, what each field displayed, and which office confirmed the meaning. This avoids turning a valid transfer into an unsupported claim of community release.
Christian Release Identity Checks
Namesakes are a real source of error when a record crosses county lines. Compare the full name, birth date, Graves booking number, arrest agency, charges, book date, and any DOC or PID number before linking a Christian movement to a Graves booking. A booking photo may support the comparison, but it should never serve as the only identifier. BlueHorse can display either a photograph or a generic placeholder.
If the spelling differs, ask whether the booking lists an alias or prior name. Search adjacent dates when transport caused the two systems to record the move on different days. For an older event, request the record rather than assuming that the visible vendor archive is complete. The public interface states no formal retention term.
Expungement, sealing, or a lawful purge may also change what appears. Absence after such action does not prove there was no booking. The Graves Circuit Clerk can identify the official disposition record, including a recovered electronic image when tornado damage affected the former paper file.
